Honoring Veterans. Preserving Stories.
The Carver County Historical Society’s Veteran Registry touchscreen display is incorporated into CCHS’s permanent veteran exhibit, Extraordinary Sacrifices, which covers the military service of Carver County men & women from the Civil War to the War on Terror. The custom-built searchable database combines service information compiled by CCHS with veteran photographs from the CCHS collection & contributions from veteran families.
Guest access to the Registry is available via two wall-mounted touchscreen displays, allowing multiple guests to search simultaneously. Currently, the registry includes profiles for 2,626 Carver County veterans, with more being added as research & public submissions continue.

Q&A
What is Find Your Veteran?
Find Your Veteran™ is a search platform developed by Creature Works that helps organizations preserve and share Veteran stories. It can be presented as a touchscreen kiosk, an online registry, or both, depending on your organization’s goals, space, and audience.
How does the Find Your Veteran kiosk work?
The kiosk is simple to use. Visitors can interact with a touchscreen to search for veteran records based on criteria like name, branch of service, period of service, or local community. The system is designed to be intuitive, making it easy for users of all ages and technical abilities to access and explore the information.
Can I customize the veteran records displayed on the kiosk?
Yes, the Find Your Veteran kiosk is customizable. You can add veteran records, historical data and photos. This ensures that the kiosk reflects your unique collection and the veterans in your community. Additional costs may apply if you need to store and serve video, audio, and other multimedia files.
Can I match our organization’s brand?
Yes, the kiosk can be fully customized to match your brand.
Is the Find Your Veteran kiosk easy to update?
Absolutely! The Find Your Veteran Registry is as easy to use and update as a spreadsheet. The current system is offline, where data and images are organized and added via a spreadsheet. However, we’re working on an easy-to-use backend registry interface that allows administrators to add, update, and manage veteran information online with minimal technical expertise.
Can the Find Your Veteran kiosk be used outdoors?
Yes, however, the hardware selection and housing would be rated for outdoors. If you wish to place a kiosk system in a park or outdoor memorial site, there are kiosks suited to withstand the elements and provide reliable performance year-round.
Is this available as a website?
Yes! If you choose the online version, you can make it publicly accessible.
What kind of security measures are in place?
The offline version is completely locked down. It is not available on the Internet. If you choose the online version, we follow industry best practices to safeguard the data at all stages.
Can the Find Your Veteran kiosk be integrated with my existing systems?
If you already have a veteran database, we will evaluate your system to see if our registry can work with it. We will work with you to make the process as seamless as possible.
What kind of technical support is available after installation?
We offer ongoing technical support and maintenance to ensure that the kiosk operates smoothly. Our support team can assist with any issues, updates, or troubleshooting. We also provide documentation and training to ensure your team can manage the kiosk efficiently.
How can the Find Your Veteran kiosk benefit my community?
The Find Your Veteran kiosk is a powerful tool for showcasing local history and honoring veterans. It creates an interactive space where visitors can learn about the veterans in their community, explore their stories, and engage with history in a meaningful way. It also fosters a sense of pride and recognition within the community for the sacrifices made by veterans.
